Printer Plug-in 2.3 Release Notes

Enhancements:

• Added support for encoding non-printable characters in a bar code.
• A RAW printer type that uses raw XML elements was added.
• To allow us to place text closer to the top of a label we added a “top-of-form” setting to the IPL printers.
• Added a media type attribute for direct-thermal media (no ribbon) or thermal-transfer media (ribbon) to the ZPL label elements.
• Added a media tracking attribute to the ZPL printer label element to better support mark sensing of gap or mark media.
• The reporting plug-in will now render reports to temporary resource files and load them with the simple web server provided by the web services plug-in.

Improvements:

• We improved the printing test application serial communications port implementation, print command display and menu.
• We added a bar code printing test application to help diagnose printing issues.
• Updated software to work with new event/session context API

Defects fixed:

• Fixed an issue with the printer plug-in not loading correctly in the Admin Client application.
• Also, removed the explicit dependency to the web services plug-in so reporting functions work if the web services assembly is not available.
